This is a result of the Study Visit entitled Youth Work and Inclusion in Israel, held in Israel last year (29th September - 5th October 2013) that provided the chance to discover, for an entire week, youth work and the level of social inclusion in Israel with a specific focus on youth.
That activity has been a joint effort and work of the Israeli EuroMed Youth Unit (EMYU), the network of Israeli EuroMed multipliers and trainers, RCBS (Regional Capacity Building and Support Unit for the EuroMed Youth Programme IV), SALTO-YOUTH EuroMed, the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel.
It is the second issue of a collection in several languages called «Youth Work in...» composed of five publications dedicated to youth work in the European Neighbourhood South countries (Tunisia, Israel, Jordan, Palestinian Territories and Egypt) that hosted actions in 2013.
This collection aims to support the cooperation within EuroMed area providing a depth reflection about the nowadays issues and challenges in youth work in the Euro Mediterranean context.
Youth work is changing and opening new interesting perspectives for the future. The field of youth work within Meda countries is living strong changes and the role of young people is more and more relevant in the society.
This publication provides:
- an overview about youth work in Israel;
- an educational and pedagogical background of youth work in Israel;
- the statistics situation about youth in Israel;
- the inclusion strategy and youth work in Israel;
- some examples of youth projects and best practises about inclusion.
After the first issue “Youth work in Tunisia after the revolution” published in English and French last summer, the third production will concern Palestine. It will be entitled “Youth work in Palestine and surrounding challenges” and based on a study visit held in Palestine from 19th to 26th June 2013.
The fourth will concern Jordan. It will be entitled “Youth work and youth unemployment in Jordan” and based on the Seminar held in Jordan from 13-18 May 2013.
The fifth will concern Egypt. It will be entitled “Democracy, citizenship and youth participation” and based on the Training Course and conference held in Egypt from December 14th to 20th, 2013.
Only English and French versions will be available in hard copies.
The French version of “Youth work and inclusion in Israel” will be soon given out and the Israeli Euromed Youth Unit will be in charge of the Hebrew version.
