Training course for Israeli youth workers

Enriching the knowledge on the Euromed Youth Program

The Israeli EuroMed Youth Unit (EMYU), under the guidance of the Regional Capacity Building and Support Unit (RCBS) for the Euromed Youth Program IV, carried out a Training Course for Euro-Med Multipliers in Jerusalem on February 3-8, 2013.

The potential Euro-Med Multiplier is a member of an NGO or a representative of a governmental institution. The general aim of this kind of trainings is to prepare a future pool of Euro-Med Multipliers on two levels: local or national, acting on behalf of the EMYU of Israel.

This experience responds to the needs expressed by the Unit to train and increase a network of “resource people” able to support their work by promoting and presenting the Euro-Med Youth Program nationally.

The Israeli Multiplier Training Course had 23 participants from all regions of the State, within 5 from Arab minority.
During five days they enhanced their knowledge of the Program and acquired skills for using and adapting different tools in order to become “qualified” to deliver information and training sessions about the Euro-Med Youth.

The training process was practice-oriented. The experiences of trainees are usually one of the main sources of learning and most of the methods and exercises are directly linked to existing practices of youth work and the EuroMed Youth Programme implementation.

The selection, made by Unit at the end of this intense training, was good enough to have at the end almost all participants nominated as EuroMed Multipliers. The remaining ones will be nominated as "Local Relay". The nominations were made taking into consideration a number of aspects for each participant: their knowledge on EMYP, their willingness to work in close cooperation with the EMYU for the dissemination of the EMYP, their commitment to the EuroMed Multiplier duties, their professional background on work with youth on national and international level, their geographical area of living and working as well as the sector of Israeli society they represent.

It is the second training course for Euro-Med Multipliers organized by a Euro-Med Youth Unit after the one in Tunisia of last January and next Monday, 25th of March, is the turn of Jordan.
