Gathering both sides of the Mediterranean with the people in charge of inter-regional cooperation

Youth in Action and Euromed Youth together at the Action 3.1 Staff Meeting

From the 7th to the 9th November 2011 in Vienna will take place the Annual Staff Meeting with all the Project Officers of the Action 3.1 that supports projects with Neighboring Partner Countries of the European Union, namely Youth Exchanges and Training and Networking Projects in the youth field.

About 8 representatives from the Euro-Med Youth Units (EMYUs) for the Euromed Youth IV have been invited by the National Agencies and SALTO resource centres for a joint session in the middle of their working programme. This will be the 9th meeting between EMYUs and National Agencies and the last one was held in Amman in 2008 as Official closing ceremony of the phase III of the program.

The Heads of Euromed Youth Units (EMYUs) of Jordan, Palestine, Tunisia, Israel, Egypt and probably Algeria, together with some members of their own staff, will get to know colleagues from EU Member States and their way of working.

Together they will consider and discuss what is needed for future co-operation and forward concrete proposals for upcoming action to the European Commission.

The program of the Staff Meeting 2011 will be quite intense in order to continue to strengthen among National Agencies and improve the work being done within this Cooperation. It will be concentrated on a thematic approach and structured to give the participants some time for much-needed networking as well as an opportunity to better understand the added value of projects for beneficiaries in each of the three regions of Neighboring Partner Countries (Eastern Europe Caucasus, South East Europe and Euro Mediterranean area) and share examples of good practices and perspectives for future co-operation. For a better demonstration, beneficiaries of projects from all three partner regions will be invited.

So in summary, this Meeting aims to:

  • Provide a space and framework for Project Officers to network with their colleagues, exchange experiences and to learn from one another,
  • Discuss specific technical issues and share different national-level solutions
  • Gain more insight into the recent developments and needs in each region (SEE, EECA and Euromed)

Additionally, as EMYU’s don’t have that often the opportunity to meet each other, time will be used for a South-South cooperation, led by RCBS team, into a 3 hours working session. Topics addressed will be: networking between EMYU’s, state of the play in the different countries, individual approach to issues faced by EMYU’s, both on procedural or educational levels.
