Ethnocentrism is a tendency to interpret or evaluate other cultures in term of one’s own, putting oneself at the centre first and then reinforce this feeling with prejudices. Ethnocentric behaviours are shaped by and represented in such social phenomena as stereotypes, discrimination, social exclusion, xenophobia and racism.
In both the Mediterranean and Europe are diverse within their own geographical boundaries. How to live with and within such a diversity and plurality of values in the modern world in this particular geographical area? In this context, Euro-Mediterranean youth work also has a role, being a means of reaching young people and providing them with opportunities to come together and learn from each other.
