Call for author: ‘Youth work and youth unemployment in Jordan’

The Euromed Youth Programme is looking for an author to write a study on ’Youth work and youth unemployment in Jordan’. The publication will be part of a new collection dedicated to Youth work in the Mediterranean partner countries (Tunisia,Israel, Jordan, Occupied Palestinian Territory and Egypt).


This collection aims to support the cooperation within EuroMed area providing a depth reflection about the nowadays issues and challenges in youth work the Euro Mediterranean context. The collection is providing new studies about updated topics.

The youth work is moving and opening new interesting perspective for the coming future. The field of youth work within Meda countries is living strong changes and the role of young people is more and more relevant in the society.

This study would like to contribute to the overall reflection about youth work in Jordan with a specific focus on on field projects and to provide some new keys for reading the ongoing situation about unemployment in Jordan. The specific focus of this study should be an overview about the ongoing situation of youth works in Jordan, the challenges, strategies and good practices of youth work facing the complex situation in the country. The study should also provides a statistic overview about the general situation of the country about unemployment and a specific focus about youth.

The study will be based on the Seminar that will be held in Jordan from 13-18 May 2013.

The author should be able to take part in the Seminar and to use the field visits in order to organize and develop the content of study.

For this reason the author should be able to work in English.


The final public of this publication will be: institutions, youth leaders, social workers and trainers involved in such activities.

The document should be submitted to RCBS (Regional Capacity Building and Support Unit for the EuroMed Youth Programme IV) and SALTO-YOUTH EUROMED in English.


The study will be translated by RCBS.

The " Youth work and youth unemployment in Jordan" study should provide to the readers:


1) overview about Youth Work in Jordan


2) educational and pedagogical background of youth work in Jordan;

3) statistics situation about youth in Jordan and unemployment situation;

4) challenges of youth workers for developing projects facing the unemployment of youth in urban and rural area;


5) some examples of youth projects and best practises for facing unemployment of youth in the country and supporting their insertion in the labour market.

The format of this publication will be 45 pages in A5. The submitted text should be 40 pages/word (font 12).

The author should be able to take part in the study visit and to follow this schedule and timetable.

Deadline for 1st draft: 30/06/2013

Deadline for final draft: 30/07/2013

Fees: 3.000 euro.


Deadline for the application on line 10th April 2013.
