After the Arab Spring: youth work reality in Tunisia

The Study Visit started in Tunis

This morning was of the official opening of one week activity gathering participants from Program countries and Tunisia. The discussion is going on about the situation of Youth Work and Youth Policy as general framework.

In the afternoon they will visit the higher Institute of animation for youth and culture of Bir el Bey.

The activity is co-organized by Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of Republic of Tunisia, SALTO Euromed, the Tunisian Euromed Youth Unit and the RCBS (Regional Capacity Building and Support Unit for the EuroMed Youth Programme IV). It will be the opportunity to discover, reflect and share about youth work in the society and to create partnership for cooperation.

The role of the 13 experienced youth workers from Program Countries (i.e. EU and EFTA member states, Turkey) as well as of the 13 NA’s officers (i.e. representatives of the National Agencies of the Youth in Action Program) is to better understand the change after the Revolution and the role of new associations in the society’s development.

Discover and learn about Youth, Youth Policy and Youth Work realities in Tunisia; share experiences and practices; foster mutual knowledge and understanding; promote sustainable contacts between the youth NGOs aiming at future development of projects within the Youth in Action and Euromed Youth Programs, are the aims and the objectives of the visit.

The week program will handle with topics such as the place and role of Youth Revolution, the situation of Youth nowadays and its needs, the youth work reality in Tunisia through several meetings with the EU Delegation and Ministry of Youth, visits to different youth organizations and institutions and presentation of current European Youth Programs (EuroMed Youth Program IV and Youth in Action Program with special focus on cooperation with the Neighboring Partner Countries of the European Union).
